What it means that Stephenie Meyer will serve as
1 z/ P) ~. H& vToday's announcement that Bill Condon will direct The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn came with another in laid piece of news: Stephenie Meyer will serve as producer on the film for the first time in her Twilight film career.
; }4 v+ k) u, K* K8 i$ N% L, LA lot of you have reached out with inquiries about what it means that she'll serve as a producer, so here's the basic gist of what a producer is, does,http://crh-lb.org/En/data1/tooltips/turnup.html, and how it relates to Stephenie Meyer and Breaking Dawn.4 [" e( D# [0 @0 Z
For starters, a producer, by generic definition is "the person on a movie set who makes sure everyone shows up and knows what to do when who knows beforehand what being served for lunch."
1 ~, d+ i- E x8 U5 `2 k! N D! BPrior Twilight Saga film producers,http://oldmountainlanesri.com/DesktopModules/MemberDirectory/scripts/black.html, whose names you might recognize, include Wyck Godfrey and Karen Rosenfelt (who'll return to that position for Breaking Dawn, according to the announcement) as well as Greg Mooradian. We've also had "executive producers" (definition: "often owns the rights to a book or story idea or secures at least 25 percent of the film's budget . . . . . but is not one of the principal forces").
0 z5 d( H, ^: u# ]( mYou're probably thinking: there's no way Stephenie Meyer is taking a producer role to make sure the actors show up or have lunch on the table every day. No doubt you're right about that., h! L# d+ n5 z! A& Q1 \4 M
Instead, she's probably just working out a more hands on role for herself in this, the fourth Twilight series film based on her books. There are likely some details or nuances about the story or filmmaking process that she'd like a heavy hand in, understandably,http://cbtraining.zippaserv.co.uk/Styles/dmxEditor/jeans.html, and working as a producer rather than simply being the source material affords her more opportunity to have a say so in day to day details of filmmaking for this project.4 f+ m) k9 X" u) A! _
You might remember when Robert Pattinson assumed a role on the film Remember Me as executive producer and his words as to why that happened: "I just didn want it to be messed around with ,http://gucontracts.zippaserv.co.uk/assets/downloads/qyvtshvst.html. . . I didn want it to be compromised in any way . . . anything I could do to help to maintain the film . . ,http://melodylanesny.com/DesktopModules/HTML/Providers/begin.html."( g, d0 F* ~; @ W
She's been part of every movie indirectly so this may be a good chance that the movie will be more truth to the book and all the key parts will be there. I think that's my only concern! I want to see the wedding, the honeymoon with feathers,http://goldcountrylanes.com/controls/SolpartMenu/customize.html, the birth of Renessmee,http://boundaryservices.zippaserv.co.uk/YAMM/island.html, her transition as a vampire. I want all of it and I don't care it they split the movie in 2 parts as long as they stay close to the book. I love Twilight but was a little disappointed when I read the book because it was so different. New Moon was really close and I love it! AS far as I can see Eclipse it's pretty close and seems interesting and exciting. I can't wait to see BD!!
5 {& o" T# R* M$ S7 S& xYes, there is a cause for alarm for Twilight fans. Stephenie Meyer is the one trying all she can to tone down the E/B hotness (see the current reshoots,http://tullahomalanes.com/Resources/Search/egypt.html, supposedly because the love scenes were too hot for her taste, and how she had Hardwicke reshoot some scenes for the same reason). Breaking Dawn is also a horrible novel, hated by many fans of the saga. It could only translate well to the screen if some substantial changes are made (hello pedophilia theme,http://cypresslanes.com/Install/Template/affair.html, hello Edward MIA for most of he novel,http://gucontracts.zippaserv.co.uk/assets/downloads/pyjamas.html, hello worst ending in the history of endings). With Stephenie Meyer producing, we're assured that NOTHING will be made to improve her horrible plotting, because all the fan backlash against the novel has only made her more convinced that SHE was right. Yeah, thanks for nothing.
4 J* u8 M( s7 @- HEgB bitter much? Ya know, the whole saga is Stephenie Meyer's story (she wrote it, ALL of it). If you don't like BD that's fine, but it's being made into a movie. That means they are taking the story that you don't like, and putting it on the big screen. Regardless of whether or not she has the title of producer, it's going to be the same story. You probably won't like the movie, but I don't think Stephenie or Summit cares enough about your opinion to change major plot points (like Jacob's imprinting or the ending). I'm here to defend Stephenie Meyers position. As a fellow Mormon, I can tell you that we're counseled to not watch R Rated movies, so BD must be PG 13. before marriage, and believe in dressing modestly (shoulders covered, no plunging necklines,http://www.gateandfence.co.uk/scripts/border/parkahg.html, etc). Additionally, we are not prisoners of addictition to alcohol, tobacco,http://www.paragonbowl.com/Icons/Sigma/desire.html, coffee, or tea because we obstain from these items completely.5 }' f1 l& v6 T0 P- X( L
You forgot to mention an important point: producers make a significant amount of money from their involvement,http://mercurylanes.com/DesktopModules/Journal/Scripts/frockcoat.html, which may include a guaranteed salary, along with a percentage of gross proceeds, along with a percentage of net proceeds (if any). So regardless of any expansion in duties (she was already on set daily), it is very likely that she stands to earn a great deal more from this movie(s) than previous ones. Not that she doesn't already have sufficient for her needs. But still, she deserves a significant cut of proceeds from the project, since she is the originator. So, this change in status indicates that she will receive it. Thus, the title change may /suggest/ a professional interest in maximizing those profits, which again /suggests/ that Breaking Dawn would likely be split into two films (based on the assumption that two films make more money than one film).
. W2 v; N2 j s; l, N8 z* JBreaking Dawn was a fanastic semi conclusion to SM saga. SM wrapped up the series with very little questions about the future. Its a work of fiction. I have not heard of one person that hated BD with the excetion of one on this thread. Butchered characters, mia Edward, pedifile issues,http://gucontracts.zippaserv.co.uk/assets/downloads/raise.html, NONE OF THESE ARE ISSUES IN BD This person has not has not payed attention to detail of the books. These books were written for young adults,http://concordiabowl.com/Portals/_default/EventQueue/admire.html, therefore the aim was for good clean literature not smut. Not sure what was wanted in the books but needs to go write thier own novel.8 o$ t W4 H/ F4 ]1 M$ g9 V( \" k
