West Pharmaceutical Services breaks ground on India facility

/ J( ^0 g1 f+ v7 p+ ?7 s7 _West Pharmaceutical Services broke ground for its first manufacturing facility in India. West Pharmaceutical India Packaging Private Ltd, an indirect subsidiary of West, has started construction of the new compression molding facility in Sri City, India. The plant will serve as a key strategic location, producing metal and elastomeric pharmaceutical components used in primary packaging of injectable medicines manufactured by India and Asia-Pacific region pharmaceutical and biopharmaceutical customers. The facility will be built in several phases, with construction of Phase 1 on the metal seal and compression molding facility; commercial production of metal components expected to commence in the first quarter of 2014. Production of a range of West’s high-quality standard elastomeric components is expected to start in the first quarter of 2015, and the capability to produce ready-to-sterilize components will be available by 2016. At the completion of Phase 3 in 2023, the built-up area for the plant and office will reach 37,700 square meters.
