Kerala, India - A fire broke out in the mixing department of Apollo Tyres’ Kalamassery facility September 2. In operation since 1962, the plant in Kalamassery, Cochin, Kerala manufactures cross-ply truck, bus and farm tires, along with retreading material. Nobody was injured in the blaze, but machinery and rubber are said to have been destroyed. Apollo says the unit will be out of commission for several days.
