IRSG sees rubber consumption reaching 26.6 mmt this year

, Y, ?  E6 ^: q9 H8 mSingapore - The International Rubber Study Group expects total rubber consumption to reach 26.6 million metric tons in 2012 and 27.6 mmt in 2013. Global synthetic rubber demand is forecast to grow by 2.7 percent to 15.4 mmt in 2012 and by a further 3.7 percent to 15.9 mmt in 2013; global natural rubber demand is forecast to rise by 2.5 percent to 11.2 mmt in 2012 and by a further 4.3 percent to 11.7 mmt in 2013. Global NR production is forecast to rise by 3.2 percent to 11.3 million metric tons in 2012, while in 2013, the output is expected to increase by 4.4 percent to 11.8 mmt. The IRSG reported that total global rubber consumption increased to 26 million metric tons on a moving annual total (MAT) basis in March 2012, increasing from 25.9 mmt in December 2011, expanding at 3.1 percent.
