( ?& B F; o# e; b7 s; V/ ]Singapore - Continental has opened its brand new Research & Development Centers in Singapore. With a total investment of about S$36 million (EUR 21 million), the new Continental building aims to meet the demand of growing engineering capacities caused by the worldwide business expansion, particularly in Asia. The new facility is a seven-story office building with a total floor space of approximately 10,170 square meters. It currently houses about 650 employees from the Interior division of the Continental Automotive Group, as well as colleagues from the ContiTech and the Tire division. Based on future development, the capacity of the building can be expanded with the addition of an eighth floor, to accommodate a total of 1,000 employees. Helmut Matschi, member of the executive board of Continental AG and president of the interior division, outlined the expansion plans, “For the Interior division, we want to grow stronger in Asia and we can report already 19 percent sales that are generated in Asia which we aim to increase considerably in the next coming years. Our expansion plans in Singapore strongly support Continental’s growth strategy of deeper engagement with its Asian automotive customers. With our leading edge capabilities, know-how and solutions, we are one of the key players in making vehicles more intelligent, environmentally friendly and safer in the future.” |
