SPE’s TPE conference slated for Akron

Akron, OH - TPE TOPCON 2O12, sponosred by the SPE Thermoplastic Elastomers SIG in partnership with the Akron Section of SPE will feature two full days of presentations on the latest trends in global TPE markets, materials, design and applications September 10-12 in Akron, OH. Daily sessions are organized in line with new product development flow, commencing with assessment of market needs, followed by customization to meet customer requirements, material selection, processing, and fabrication. Various aspects of styrenic, olefinic, and TPU markets and development are included, plus FR and nano-filler additives and modeling and virtual prototyping to predict TPE performance. To highlight the “Open to Innovation” theme, there will be presenters from academia, start-up entrepreneurial companies, public and private compounders and polymer producers. There will also be a student poster session on polymer topics at U Akron. Luncheon Keynote speakers will be Carrington Smith of Air Products on “Drivers and Implications of Open Innovation to Corporations” and Mark Vann of GM, who will discuss “The Future Outlook for Alternative Fuel Vehicles,” providing some insight on the development of the all-electric GM Volt.
