Japanese chemical specialist Mitsui Chemicals, Inc. has resumed business following the devastating explosion and fire at its Iwakuni-Ohtake works site.

2 V0 J, g1 h# Q0 T1 S4 ~ z, LA press release from the company stated that ‘Operations have resumed at the Arlen plant in the Ohtake area’. The Yamaguchi prefecture site was subject to a series of explosions and accompanying fire that killed one employee, whilst injuring several others and severely damaged surrounding buildings and homes.& D5 R; `- Z7 m4 g2 C

The explosions occurred at Mitsui Chemicals resorcinol plant, where an adhesive agent used in tire construction is created, before spreading to the other areas of the site.
