Francesco Gori steps down from his role at Pirelli

Pirelli’s managing director, Francesco Gori, has announced his exit from the company. His departure follows the announcement of Pirelli’s Q1 results, showing significant gains over the same period the previous year.

& k' I, p5 N, j; w' [Gori was bound to Pirelli via a two-year non-competition agreement, which was extended into 2012. Following the expiration of this, he has decided to step down from his roles within Pirelli.

% K  j8 d) b: L, @2 g( q. g# QGori began his career with Pirelli in 1978, where he worked in the sales department for the Italian market. Throughout his lengthy career with Pirelli, he has held a variety of other positions within the company. From director of product planning and strategy in the early 1990’s, through to general manager of the Pirelli Tyre business sector; a role he acquired in 2001, and held succinctly with his managing director role at the company.

* I" T  i5 K  L- n$ ~"The company expresses its appreciation to Francesco Gori for the significant contribution to the (Pirelli) Group’s results and development made in 33 years of service," said a Pirelli spokesman.

Gori’s departure comes at a time of ongoing revisions within Pirelli. The economic uncertainty within Southern Europe has resulted in the company revising its 2012 outlook, as well as the replacement of a singular executive officer role, with the creation of two new roles: chief technical officer and chief commercial officer, to be held be Maurizio Boiochchi and Andrea Pirondini respectively.
