Michelin is helping truck, bus and coach fleets get to grips with the new EC/1222/2009 regulation on tire labeling, which will come into force from 1 November 2012.7 v4 g7 U: q O+ r+ t

The company has launched a dedicated tire labeling information module that explains everything fleet operators need to know about the legislation, including why it is being introduced, what tires it covers, an overview of the different rating criteria and what benefits it offers fleets.: C: S% t: p6 m4 X* L* R

Sharn Samra, Michelin's head of truck & bus marketing in the UK and Ireland, explains: "The introduction of tire labeling is a big step for the industry and will act as an important decision-making tool for fleets. Naturally, Michelin is keen to support any initiative which will improve the overall quality of tires on the market."

Samra adds: "Tire labeling will be a good starting point when it comes to choosing tires, but fleets should remember that this information must be considered in conjunction with their own specific business requirements. It's vital to choose a tire offering the right balance of performance.

"Other factors to take into account include tire longevity, braking on dry surfaces, resistance to aggressive surfaces, load capacity, road holding, traction and total cost of ownership. Plus, for bus and coach operators in particular, passenger comfort.8 C W# s3 E1 x+ R. ^
