与上帝对话
I dreamed I had an interview with GOD.
我在梦中被上帝接见。
“So you would like to interview me?” GOD asked.
$ E% u3 ]9 O% _9 ~' `“你想采访我是吗？”上帝问道。
! X0 `, d/ L7 m: j“If you have the time,” I said.
* B0 f" g; H5 ^7 F* z+ b“如果您有时间的话。”我说。
1 N1 l: L3 ]' e& I8 Z( B　GOD smiled.
“My time is eternity...
　...what questions do you have in mind for me?”
上帝笑道：“我的时间是永恒的…你有什么问题呢？”
8 j- d: C( h0 T, r# V/ k“What surprises you most about humankind?”
. g# \: B4 t8 E1 X“人类最让您惊奇的是什么？”
4 I/ ]3 y9 O3 L, X4 l) L　GOD answered...
2 L& V1 Z( M' \4 \" u' L/ a% Y上帝答道：
: e5 M; L7 D/ h/ j7 x/ Q& s: A+ |/ W& @“That they get bored with childhood,
　they rush to grow up,
　and then long to be children again.”
“是他们厌倦了童年时期，急着长大，而后又渴望返老还童。”
2 L2 C" i" u3 |0 L0 P3 k“That they lose their health to make money...
　and then lose their money to restore their health.”
! h4 Y& F8 x& t* j: {) t“他们为了挣钱而牺牲了健康，然后又花钱来恢复健康。”
" S( F5 C0 a/ Y" u* y- w“That by thinking anxiously about the future,
　they forget the present,
　such that they live in neither the present nor the future.”
& s. |# |$ \2 T: @) m“他们忧虑着未来，而忘记了现在，于是他们既不生活在现在，也不在未来。”
( A8 R6 M& `* c* t3 g0 Z“That they live as if they will never die,
( B2 c( x3 \( [1 |" t! ?, h! B　and die as though they had never lived.”
“他们活着，像是永远都不会死去，到死去的时候，又仿佛从来没有活过。”
" b. n5 ^% }+ J" y　GOD’s hand took mine and we were silent for awhile.
上帝握住我的手，我们沉默了一会儿。
% R" b/ U1 t  ~' w# M$ k9 n　And then I asked,
“As a parent, what are some of life’s lessons you want your children to learn?”
然后我问：“作为父母，您希望您的孩子们知道哪些生活经验呢？”
“To learn they cannot make anyone love them.
  U* B. P$ |4 a: f+ T　All they can do is let themselves be loved.”
“他们要知道他们不能让每个人都爱他们，他们能做的是让他们自己被爱。”
“To learn that it is not good to compare themselves to others.”
* s" _& n8 k! W2 a) P: c“他们应该知道与别人攀比是不好的。”
“To learn to forgive by practicing forgiveness.”
/ M' s- w) l: I( s  V“他们要学习宽恕别人。”
4 U: ~2 J7 j1 O& g3 v6 _# ~$ |“To learn that it only takes a few seconds to open profound wounds in those they love,
　and it can take many years to heal them.”
“他们应该知道给他们所爱的人刻上深深的伤痕只需几秒钟，而要治愈这些伤痕却要花好多年。”
% \5 _4 o3 B; _, g9 ^  ^“To learn that a rich person is not one who has the most,
& k  b# T$ w+ V6 F　but is one who needs the least.”
; h, P' d9 @: {  S$ R“他们要知道真正富裕的人，不是拥有最多的，而是需求最少的。”
% t; @( ?9 T% O' T2 _1 t“To learn that there are people who love them dearly,
! S: H6 `, [! ]4 T& a4 r- y1 I8 R7 m, y　but simply do not yet know how to express or show their feelings.”
“他们要知道有些人在深爱着他们，但是却不知道怎么表达他们的感情。”
, R% ^) I6 V( z0 q“To learn that two people can look at the same thing and see it differently.”
“他们需要知道两个人看同一个事物，会有不同的看法。”
“To learn that it is not enough that they forgive one another,
　but they must also forgive themselves.”
. A- L5 v6 S. ^+ I“他们要知道他们不仅仅要互相宽恕，还要宽恕他们自己。”
“Thank you for your time,” I said humbly.
“Is there anything else you'd like your children to know?”
% s* `" d# p7 b; p1 N“谢谢您的时间”我谦恭地说。“还有其他的事情您想要您的孩子们知道的吗？”
　GOD smiled and said...
“Just know that I am here.”
8 A, n, e! w  W8 S! w3 {1 r+ ]“Always.”
* A6 N( D+ d; P9 q; E上帝笑了，说：
) \/ e! n, b! V( N; l3 T: ^- N“他们要知道我在这里。”
