$75 million expansion planned for Bridgestone Metalpha's radial tire steel cord plant

2 K8 }1 s4 x; `9 C  J- x, xClarksville, TN - In anticipation of Bridgestone’s expansions in Aiken, SC, Bridgestone Metalpha announced a 123,077-square-foot addition that will create another 45 jobs on top of the roughly 420 there now. Bridgestone Metalpha will provide the steel cord used in tires that will be produced in South Carolina. The current 800,000-square-foot plant is situated on 87 acres. This latest expansion comes courtesy of a plan by Metalpha to begin producing off-road-tire steel cord in 2015. The move will increase daily output by 10 percent and create 36 hourly and nine salaried jobs. Site preparation will begin in the first quarter of 2012 with construction expected to be complete by the end of 2014.
