J/ c/ yEast Lansing, MI - The West Michigan Rubber Group and the Detroit Rubber Group announce an additional presentation to their first ever Joint Technical Symposium, to be held September 7, 2011 at the University Club of Michigan State University/Henry Business Center, Lansing, MI. The additional presentation is titled, “Then and now,” reflecting many of the issues that impact the commercial side of the rubber industry such as supply and demand of feedstocks and finished goods, regulatory, logistics, etc., and will be given by Steve Willett of The Plaza Group. The Joint Symposium will feature the following presentations: “Developments and current status of materials from bio-renewable feedstock and design for end of life options,” Ramani Narayan, Michigan State University distinguished professor; “3D rapid prototyping using multi-material resins,” Gary Lowell, DASI Solutions; “Improved processing HNBR,” Mark Jones, Zeon; “Opportunities for sustainable elastomers in the automotive industry,” Cynthia Flanigan, Ford Motor; “Weatherstripping using only TPV materials,” Shawn Jyawook, Jyco Sealing Technologies; “Batteries for electric and hybrid electric vehicles,” Kai Pelz, Johnson Controls; and “Then and now,” Steve Willett, The Plaza Group. Also scheduled in addition to these presentations will be Christie Robinson of the Rubber Division of The American Chemical Society, and student chapters involved in rubber and chemicals from Michigan State University, Ferris State University and Eastern Michigan University, in order to learn more about them and to create networking opportunities for internships and career employment. |
