Singapore - The International Rubber Study Group announced that Asahi Kasei Chemicals and Kumho Petrochemical have joined the IRSG Panel of Associates. Asahi Kasei Chemicals is a subsidiary of the holding company Asahi Kasei Corporation. Its core business covers chemicals and polymers, including the manufacture of several rubber and thermoplastic elastomers. The major types include polybutadiene rubber, styrene-butadiene rubber, styrenic elastomer (SBS, SEBS) and clear styrene-butadiene copolymer (SBC). In December 2011, Asahi Kasei Chemicals finalized a decision to construct a second plant in Singapore to produce solution-polymerized styrene-butadiene rubber (S-SBR), with planned capacity of 50,000 tons/year. The new plant will be located adjacent to the S-SBR plant of the same capacity which is currently under construction. Kumho Petrochemical Co., Ltd. (KKPC) is a Korea-based petrochemical company established in 1970. KKPC has a global market leadership in the manufacturing of synthetic rubbers with the world’s largest production capacity based on SBR and BR. KKPC also has bolstered eco-friendly and high-performance synthetic rubbers such as Nd-BR and S-SBR. Headquartered in located in Seoul, Republic of Korea, it has approximately 1,500 employees globally. Kumho Petrochemical now has six core business units comprised of synthetic rubbers; synthetic resins; specialty chemicals; electronic materials; building materials; and energy businesses. |
