Somerville, NJ - Leistritz will host its seventh annual Pharmaceutical Extrusion Seminar on June 20-21. This program is unique to the pharmaceutical industry in that basic extrusion theory is presented in an in-depth way to facilitate understanding of TSE technology, which is then immediately reinforced with hands-on extrusion demonstrations. In addition to Leistritz staff, the program is supplemented by outside industry experts that will address cutting-edge technologies. On June 20, presentations include: Twin screw extrusion theory: Nano-scale compounding and the path to production, Charlie Martin, Leistritz; Advances in feeding and refill technologies for difficult flowing pharmaceutical powders, Ed Bonsall, K-Tron; Twin screw extrusion: Screw design, processing and scale-up, Bill Thiele, Leistritz; Downstream pharma extrusion technology specific for tubing and rods, Bob Bessemer, Conair; Physicochemical properties and drug release mechanisms of melt extrudates, Justin Keen; Beyond compounding: Increasing product value via extrusion technologies, Chad Brown, Merck; Process and formulation approaches for pharmaceutical extrusion applications, Josh Shockey, Green Ridge Consulting; and A comprehensive approach to bioavailability enhancement, Hibre Terefe, ExxPharma Therapeutics. On June 21, presentations include: Selection of polymeric excipients for processing APIs, Shaukat Ali, BASF; Formulation design for melt extrusion, Jim DiNunzio, Hoffman-La Roche; Pharmaceutical HME: Dissolution-based compounding, Costas Gogos, PPI/NJIT; Solubility – the key to solid solution stability and pharmaceutical extrusion processability, Min Yang, Evonik Degussa; Cellular plastics in drug delivery, Graciela Terife, NJIT; Hot melt extrusion (HME) of ethylcellulose, hypromellose and polyethylene oxide, Nick Grasman, Dow Wolff Cellulosics; and The use of hot melt extrusion and comparative technologies in preparing solid amorphous dispersions and controlled release dosage forms, Mohammad Rahman, Ashland. - |
