* F+ }- M m1 ^Rayong, Thailand - Chaiyot Wongphyat, managing director of BST Elastomers, commented about the care and healing for those affected by the fire incident at the plant in Maptaphut on May 5, stating that the company deeply regrets the unfortunate accident and it confirms it is taking responsibility for the incident. The company immediately dispatched teams to help the families of the deceased and the injured, and to address the damage to the communities. The causes of the accident remain under police investigation and the findings are awaited. Chaiyot said there were 11 deaths, seven of which were company employees and four were contractors. The company has taken care of all funeral expenses and has initially paid out B100,000 to each victim’s family for both company employees and contractors alike. The family of each deceased employee will also receive a special contribution of B1 million from the company in addition to 36-months of current salary compensation from the life and accident insurance the company carries for each employee, as well as other compensations such as the Provident Fund. The company will also take care of the education of the deceased employees’ children up to a bachelor degree. For the deceased contractor employees the company is also providing B500,000 special contribution. The company assumes full medical expenses for all injured and as of today 7 persons remain hospitalized – 3 employees and 4 contractors. |
