East Lansing, MI - The West Michigan Rubber Group is inviting the rubber industry to attend the Focus on Ferris Job Fair at the National Elastomers Center on the campus of Ferris State University in Big Rapids, MI, on Wednesday, March 21, 2012. The Rubber and Plastic Technology program is contained within the Ferris State College of Engineering Technology, and currently offers 2- and 4-year programs. As students graduate, they are called upon by companies in the rubber industry to renew their ranks with those who have gained an all-around basic understanding of the processes of making rubber products. The seniors currently in the Rubber and Plastic Technology program will be available for interviews for career placement, and the underclassmen will be available for interviews for internships, of which they are required to have two for graduation. Many of them take a third internship during their time at Ferris State, which is additional valuable experience for those students who choose to take them. The day begins at 3:30 p.m. with self-guided tours and demonstrations at the National Elastomers Center. Various stations will be manned by Ferris State University Rubber Technology students. Interviews for career placement and internships will be conducted concurrently with these tours and demonstrations. This will be followed by a reception with the West Michigan Rubber Group at the Holiday Inn at 5:45 p.m., with dinner and closing remarks by Bob Speirs, Rubber and Plastic Technology Department chair, beginning at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $30 in advance by Friday, March 16, 2012, or $35 after March 16, 2012.
