Houston, TX - The Plaza Group reported prices for basic feedstocks face upward pressure due to rapidly escalating upstream costs, as per ChemOrbis. February contracts for styrene, butadiene and benzene all settled with triple digit increases from January. The largest increases occurred in butadiene costs, similar to Asia. We have seen a price increase of about $.15/lb. in February for the styrene ethylene butylene styrene (SEBS) product line, among others, based on this monomer. February pricing remains unchanged for ethylene propylene rubber (EPR) and nitrile rubber (NBR) product lines. However, prices are estimated to increase from $.08/lb. to .11/lb. next month.
